The Moab landscape is hot and windy, with adventure calling from all directions. The environment makes it an ideal site for Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS), a non-profit that teaches life and survival skills through outdoor adventure programs. COBS has run courses in Moab for 50 years.
But Executive Director Peter O’Neil, who served as a field instructor there in 1977, recalls brutal living conditions. “To call it substandard housing would be an understatement,” said O’Neil.
